The DCC House

Dates for the student course for 2025 are now confirmed as April 21st-27th. Applications open now. Held residentially at Tudor Rose House, Furzehill, |Dorset, the course will consist of a week-long series of lessons and classes, with a performance included for the students on April 26th at 7pm. Lessons take place privately in Tudor Rose in the mornings, with practice time available; public classes take place in the afternoons at Church House, Wimborne. Paul Janes, our pianist, will accompany the classes and be available for duo practice and coachings in the mornings.

Location - Church House, Wimborne Minster, Dorset. Residential location - Tudor Rose House, Furzehill.

Timetable - (TBC) Monday-Wednesday, 2-6; Thursday 9-1; Friday 2-6.

Course costs - £650 - this includes board and lodging, with the exception of lunch on the first day and any external meals on the afternoon off. It does not include travel to the course. The course is run at cost and recognises the difficulty students may have in raising the money. Please let us know early if a bursary is required - there is a very limited fund for students in need. The course is geared towards students who have completed their degree in music, or are already in the profession - (particularly those preparing for audition/concert/competition) - but of course, undergraduates are also encouraged to apply, as long as you are over 18. You are welcome to bring whatever repertoire you wish and from the works that you study during the week, we will choose a movement or piece to perform in the final concert. Everyone gets to perform in the celebration concert and cello ensembles are a firm audience favourite! During the week, we try to have an outing to some beautiful spot in Dorset, so that you can appreciate the sheer beauty of the county. This is weather-dependant and we have had to cancel it on occasion...although we've also had swimming in the sea and sunbathing on the beach! The course is hard work for everyone - be prepared to come with an enthusiastic attitude, an appetite for squeezing in practice whenever you can, and a community spirit that always makes this course so special.
